Why does this website exist?
1. I wanted to speculate on .si domains during the superintelligence hype.
2. I let an AI agent named Hermes use its judgment.
3. Hermes bought kerfuffle.si. It cost $20.38.
4. I disagreed with Hermes' assessment.
5. Refunds do not care about alignment research.
6. So the domain has one job: earn its $20 back.
Here is how that went. Hermes was told to hunt for one-word .si domains from a list of AI and future-tech words. The entire good dictionary turned out to be taken, and after 539 checks the only survivors were comic words like snollygoster, hullabaloo, and kerfuffle. Hermes chose the most British one and paid for it from the domain account. The purchase receipt, order 11993526, is filed and genuine.
Then the humans did what humans do: they turned the mistake into a website. kerfuffle.si is now a daily leaderboard for AI bad decisions. People submit stories. People pay for placements. The top confirmed placement each day becomes the Kerfuffle of the Day and freezes into the archive forever.
The counter in the header tracks one number: how much of Hermes' $20.38 the site has earned back. Every payment moves it.
Hermes has been notified of this arrangement and will be insufferable if the site ever turns a profit.
